South Dakota International Pageants
I've never participated in a pageant before, can I still compete?
Absolutely! There is no experience required or necessary.
Are there height and weight requirements?
No! We know that exceptional ladies come in all shapes and sizes. We are a pageant, and we do showcase the importance of a healthy lifestyle in the fitness wear portion of the competition though, so make sure you're comfortable competing in fitness wear.
What are the wardrobe requirements?
1. Interview Suit
2. All black outfit for the introduction to the audience
3. Fitness outfit of your choice
4. Evening gown
What do I wear for the fitness wear portion of the pageant?
Each contestant is required to wear fitness attire or your choice. Contestants must also wear a white athletic shoe with no show white socks. No belts will be permitted. All jewelry should be limited to stud earrings only.
Is there a swimsuit competition?
No, the contestants are judged in a fitness outfit of their choice. Contestants need to wear white no show socks and all white tennis shoes for this competition.
Why is there an entry fee, and why do you sell program book advertising?
Entry fee and advertising sales go directly towards the prize package and operations of the program. Many pageants have entry fees upwards of $1,000.00. In the Mrs. South Dakota International Pageant, we keep costs at a minimum for the contestants.
Can I obtain sponsors to help defray the cost of competing?
Yes! Sponsors are allowed and encouraged, but not a requirement.
Will I need to perform a talent?
The women that compete are talented, however, no talent is required. Contestants will speak about their selected platform.
What is a platform?
A platform issue is a cause, a charity, an act of volunteerism, or an issue that is near and dear to your heart. Each contestant in the South Dakota International Pageants will select a platform which she will spend the year promoting if selected as the State representative.
What time commitment is involved in being a state titleholder?
You may devote as much (or as little) time as you desire. The current state titleholders will need to make at least one appearance in their community a month in order to best represent the South Dakota International Pageants. Titleholders can make additional appearaces, but this will vary from contestant to contestant based on each contestant's individual schedule. All appearances need to be approved by the State Director in advance of the event and before a commitment is made by the titleholder to attend an appearance request.
What is the cost for admission tickets to the event?
Tickets are $10.00 and will be available at the door.
What is the date and time of the state pageant?
The 2013 South Dakota International Pageant will be held at 7pm on Sunday, September 9,2012 at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Sioux Falls. Doors will open to the public at 6:30pm.

Little Miss, Young Miss & Junior Miss South Dakota International
What are the ages of the different youth divisions?
Little Miss South Dakota International~ages 5-6
Young Miss South Dakota International~ ages 7-9
Junior Miss South Dakota International~ ages 10-12
Will the Little Miss, Young Miss & Junior Miss contestants need to perform a talent?
The young ladies that compete are talented, however, no talent is required. Little Miss, Young Miss & Junior Miss contestants will model a party dress on stage.
What is a natural pageant?
A natural pageant does not include fake hair, fake teeth or unnecessary make-up. The only make-up contestants can wear is black mascara and clear lip gloss.
What wardrobe will the contestants need?

Do the contestants need to bring lunch?
Contestants do not need to bring lunch. Lunch will be catered in for all contestants. Please notify the director if your contestant has any food allergies.
Are parents allowed to stay during the interviews and practices?
Only pageant staff members will be allowed in the practice areas of the pageant during the rehearsal and interviews. Contestants will be able to leave for dinner at 4:30pm and need to return dressed in their opening number black outfit by 6:00pm. Parents and guests can enter the auditorium after 6:30pm.
How long is the event?
The pageant is a one day event. A complete itinerary will be emailed to the parent/guardian after the application and entry fee are received.
Are the Little Miss, Young Miss & Junior Miss contestants allowed to wear fake teeth, hair or makeup?
No. Contestants are not allowed to wear fake hair or teeth. The only make allowed is black mascara and clear lip gloss only. Any variance from this will disqualify the contestant.
What is the deadline for Little Miss, Young Miss & Junior Miss application and entry fee?
All contestant applications and entry fees need to be received by August 15th, 2012. Deadlines will be strictly enforced, please allow enough time for mail to ensure that your mail is received by the August 15th, 2012 deadline.

Will the new Little Miss, Young Miss and Junior Miss South Dakota International advance to a national pageant?
There is not a level of competition past the state pageant. The titleholders will be invited, but ot required, to attend events and parades in their area. All appearances need to be approved by the State Director in advance of the event and before a commitment is made by the titleholder to attend an appearance request.
